SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
If not used properly this lawnmower can be dangerous! This lawnmower can cause
serious injury to the operator and others, the warnings and safety instructions must be
followed to ensure reasonable safety and efficiency in using this lawnmower. The
operator is responsible for following the warning and safety instructions in this manual
and on the lawnmower. Never use the mower unless the grassbox or guards provided by
the manufacturer are in the correct position.
Explanation of Symbols on your
Husqvarna Royal 36EL/43EL/43ELS
2. Before use, examine cable for damage, replace it
if there are signs of damage or ageing.
3. Do not use the lawnmower if the electric cables
are damaged or worn.
4. Immediately disconnect from the mains electricity
supply if the cable is cut, or the insulation is
damaged. Do not touch the electric cable until
the electrical supply has been disconnected. Do
not repair a cut or damaged cable. Replace it
with a new one.
5. Your extension cable must be uncoiled, coiled
cables can overheat and reduce the efficiency of
your mower.
Warning
Read the user instructions carefully to
make sure you understand all the
controls and what they do.
Always keep the lawnmower on the
ground when mowing. Tilting or lifting
the lawnmower may cause stones to
be thrown out

away from the power point mowing up and down,
never in circles.
7. Never carry the product by the cable.
8. Never pull on the cable to disconnect any of the
plugs.
9. Do not pull cable around sharp objects.
10.Always switch off at the mains before
disconnecting any plug, cable connector or
extension cable.
11. Switch off, remove plug from mains and examine
electric supply cable for damage or ageing
before winding cable for storage. Do not repair
a damaged cable, replace it with a new one.
Use only Electrolux Outdoor Products
replacement cable.
Keep bystanders away. Do not mow
whilst people especially children or pets
are in the mowing area
Switch off! Remove plug from mains
before adjusting, cleaning or if cable is
entangled or damaged. Keep the cable
away from the blade.
Beware or severing toes or hands. Do
not put hands or feet near a rotating
blade.

insulated to EN60335. Under no circumstance
should an earth be connected to any part of the
product.

Maintenance and storage
1. Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure
the lawnmower is in safe working condition.
2. Check the grassbox/grassbag frequently for wear
or deterioration.

guards or without guards in place.
12.Keep hands and feet away from the cutting
means at all times and especially when switching
on the motor.
13. Do not tilt the lawnmower when the motor is running,
except when starting and stopping. In this case, do
not tilt more than absolutely necessary and lift only
the part which is away from the operator. Always
ensure that both hands are in the operating position
before returning the appliance to the ground.

4. Only use the replacement blade, blade bolt,
spacer and impeller specified for this product.
5. Be careful during adjustment of the machine to
prevent entrapment of the fingers between
moving blades and fixed parts of the machine.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Grassbox Assembly

Assembling the Grassbox Screen
1. Fold the screen sides inwards (E1).
2. Align the matching tabs and slots in the back and
sides of the grassbox screen and press firmly
together (E2).
Fitting the Lower Handle to your Lawnmower
1. Pull the tie spindle bar (A1) to one side so that it
is flush with hole in the side of the moulding.
2. Locate the lower handle formed end in the
recessed moulding at the rear of the deck (A).
3. Insert the nut into the handle knob (if applicable).
4. Push the tie bar back through the locating hole in
the handle and secure it with a handle knob (A).
5. Repeat the sequence for the other side of the
handle.
Fitting the Upper Handle to the Lower Handle
1. Make sure the switchbox is on the right hand
side when viewed from the rear.
2. Insert the nut into the handle knob (if applicable).
3. Fit the bolts, washers and handle knobs (B).
4. Fit the cable to the handles with the clips
provided making sure the cable is not trapped
between the upper and lower handles.
3. The assembled screen should appear as
illustrated (E3).
4. Lower the assembled screen into the grassbox,
aligning the tabs with the slots in the grassbox
and press firmly together (E4, E5).
5. Take the lid, align the tabs with the slots and
press firmly together (E6).
Fitting Fully Assembled Grassbox to Lawnmower
1. Lift safety flap. Make sure the discharge chute is
clean and free from debris.
2. Locate fully assembled grassbox onto grassbox
sill.
3. Fit the 2 location studs on the safety flap into the
2 location holes on the grassbox lid and ensure
the grassbox is securely located (F).

Fitting the Lower Handle to your Lawnmower
1. Secure the lower handle with the handle knobs
provided. Make sure the end of the handle is
properly located in the lawnmower (C).
After fitting ensure no gap remains between the
safety flap and grassbox lid.
4. Removal is the reverse procedure
Fitting the Upper Handle to the Lower Handle
1. Make sure the switchbox is on the right hand
side when viewed from the rear.
2. Fit the bolts, washers and handle knobs (D).
3. Fit the cable to the handles with the clips
provided making sure the cable is not trapped
between the upper and lower handles.
Where grass collection is not required you can
use the lawnmower without the grass collector.
Ensure the safety flap is fully closed.

STARTING AND STOPPING
Cable Restraint
ROYAL 43ELS (K)
1. Form loop in mains cable and push the loop
through the slot as illustrated in picture G1.
2. To secure, position loop over the hook and pull
the cable back through the slot as illustrated in
picture G2.
Engage the clutch by squeezing the clutch lever
towards the handle.
Adjusting the Clutch Cable - Royal 43ELS only
1. Ensure the cable is not twisted and runs freely
down the handles.
Starting the Lawnmower
2. Loosen locknut (L1) and screw adjuster (L2) “IN”, in
the direction of the arrow, if clutch does not engage
when the clutch lever is pulled towards the handle.
3. Screw adjuster (L2) “OUT”, in the opposite
direction from the arrow, if the clutch does not
disengage when the clutch lever is free.
4. Tighten locknut (L1) finger tight then 1/4 turn with
a spanner.
The switchbox is provided with a lock off button
(H1) to prevent accidental starting.
1. Press and hold the lock off button on the
switchbox (H1), then squeeze the start/stop lever
towards the upper handle (H2).
2. Continue to squeeze the start/stop lever and
release the lock off button.
Stopping the Lawnmower
1. Release the pressure on the start/stop lever.
MOWING
How to Mow
Grass Collection Indicator
1. Start mowing from the outside edge of the lawn,
mowing in strips in alternate directions (M).
2. Mow twice a week in the growing season, your
lawn will suffer if more that one third of its length
is cut at one time and this may also result in poor
collection.
IMPORTANT!
The machine must be switched on for the grass
collection indicator to operate.
1. When the indicator is visible - grass is being
collected. (Q1)
2. When the indicator drops outs of sight - it's time

Do not overload your Lawnmower
When mowing in long thick grass a first cut with the
cutting height adjusted to its highest setting, see
Cutting Height, will help reduce motor overload and
will help prevent damage to your lawnmower.
Cutting Height Adjustment
Grassbox Removal
1. Lift the safety flap and remove the grassbox see
R.
Emptying the Grassbox
1. Hold the grassbox as illustrated when emptying.

Using as a mulcher (if applicable)
Switch off your lawnmower, wait until the blade
has stopped rotating and disconnect from the
mains electricity supply.

1. Height of cut is adjusted by raising or lowering
the four wheels. Pull the adjustment levers away
from the location slots and move them to the
selected position (N).
1. Lift the safety flap. Twist and slide mulching plug
into rear discharge chute (T1).
2. When cutting long grass the machine cutting
height should be set to its highest setting, i.e. the
blade is furthest away from the grass. Adjust the
height of cut to suit the condition of your lawn, for
long grass use a high cut and vice versa.
2. Ensure mulching plug is securely fitted (T2).
3. The mulching plug prevents grass from being
collected by blocking the collection chute on the
underside of the deck.
4. Ensure the safety flap is positioned correctly.
To Produce a Striped Effect on Your Lawn
Applicable to U.K. Only (V)
1. You may find it necessary to try different cutting
heights to find out which setting will achieve the
best stripe on your lawn.
2. the ability of the lawnmower to produce and
effective stripe will depend on the grass type and
condition.

All four wheels should be adjusted to the
same height.

1. Height of cut is adjusted by raising or lowering
the four wheels. Pull the adjustment lever away
from the location slots and move it to the
selected position.(P)
2. When cutting long grass the machine cutting
height should be set to its highest setting, i.e. the
blade is furthest away from the grass.
3. Cut all awkward places first before mowing the
main part of your lawn in a regular up and down
sequence.
Adjust the height of cut to suit the condition of your
lawn, for long grass use a high cut and vice versa.
ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION

under an Environmental Management System (ISO
14001) using, where practical, components
manufactured in the most environmentally
responsible manner, according to company
procedures, and with the potential for recycling at
the end of the products’ life.

have been labelled (where practical) for
categorised recycling.
Awareness of the environment must be
considered when disposing of ‘end-of-life’ product.
If necessary, contact your local authority for
disposal information.

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning
•
The curved washer should only be fitted one

Switch off your lawnmower, wait until the blade
has stopped rotating and disconnect from the
mains electricity supply. It is very important that
you keep your lawnmower clean! Grass
clippings left in any of the air intakes or under
the deck could become a potential fire hazard.
1. Remove grass from under the deck with a brush.
2. Using a soft brush, remove grass clippings from
all air intakes (W1), the discharge chute and the
grassbox.
3. Fit the curved washer over the blade bolt
ensuring the outer curved side fits against the
bolt head.
4. Place the blade bolt through the centre hole in
the blade ensuring that the blade is the correct
way up - i.e. with the Husqvarna part number on
the bolt head side.
5. Engage the blade bolt through the centre hole of
the blade spacer and tighten clockwise by hand.
6. Hold the fan firmly and tighten the blade bolt with
the spanner provided.
3. Lift the grass collection indicator cover, remove
the ball and brush clean, replace ball and cover
after cleaning (W2).
Service Recommendations
Your product is uniquely identified by a silver
and black product rating label.
We strongly recommend that your product is
serviced at least every twelve months, more
often in a professional application.
At the End of the Mowing Season
1. Replace blade, bolts, nuts or screws, if
necessary.
4. The rear rollers can be removed for cleaning
(Applicable to U.K. only). (W3)
5. Wipe over the surface of your lawnmower with a
dry cloth.
IMPORTANT
Never use water for cleaning your lawnmower.
Do not clean with chemicals, including petrol, or
solvents - some can destroy critical plastic parts.
Cutting System (X)
2. Clean your lawnmower thoroughly.
Storing your Lawnmower
Always handle the blade with care - sharp edges
could cause injury.
1. Do not store your lawnmower immediately after
use.
USE GLOVES.
2. Wait until the motor has cooled to avoid a
potential fire hazard.
3. Clean your lawnmower.
4. Store in a cool, dry place where your lawnmower
is protected from damage.
Fault Finding
Renew your metal blade after 50 hours mowing
or 2 years whichever is the sooner - regardless
of condition.
If the blade is cracked or damaged replace it
with a new one.
Fails to Operate
1. Is the Power Turned On?
2. Check the fuse in the plug, if blown replace.
3. Fuse continues to blow?

Removing the Blade and Fan
1. Turn your lawnmower on its side.
2. To remove the blade bolt, hold the fan firmly and
with the spanner provided loosen the blade bolt
by turning it anti-clockwise.
3. Remove the blade bolt, blade, fan and fan insert.
4. Inspect for damage and clean as necessary. (Y)
Fitting the Blade and Fan
1. Turn your lawnmower on its side.
2. Fit the fan and fan insert onto the motor shaft.
3. Fit the blade onto the fan ensuring that the tabs
locate into the fan.
4. Re-assemble blade bolt through blade and fan.
5. Tighten blade bolt firmly with the spanner
provided. Do not over tighten. Do not use a
longer spanner.
Immediately disconnect from the mains
electricity supply and consult your local
approved Service Centre.
Poor Grass Collection
1. Disconnect from the mains electricity supply.
2. Clean the outside of the air intakes, the
discharge chute and the underside of the deck.
3. Raise to a higher height of cut.
4. Clean Fan Blades.
5. If poor collection persists.
Immediately disconnect from the mains
electricity supply and consult your local
approved Service Centre.
Excessive Vibration

Removing the Blade and Fan
1. Disconnect from the mains electricity supply.
2. Check that the blade is fitted correctly?
3. If the blade is damaged or worn, replace it with a
new one.
4. If vibration persists, turn the blade through 180o
by first loosening the blade bolt, turning the blade
and re-tightening the blade bolt.
1. Turn your lawnmower on its side.
2. To remove the blade bolt, hold the fan firmly and
with the spanner provided loosen the blade bolt
by turning it anti-clockwise.
3. Remove the blade bolt, blade, fan and fan insert.
4. Inspect for damage and clean as necessary. (Y)

5. If vibration persist?
Immediately disconnect from the mains
electricity supply and consult your local
approved Service Centre.
1. Ensure drive hub is securely in position. Place
fan on drive hub.
2. Locate blade spacer onto fan ensuring that the
slots on the blade spacer engage with the ribs on
the fan.

SICHERHEITSMAßNAHMEN
Bei nicht ordnungsgemäßer Verwendung kann dieser Rasenmäher gefährlich sein! Dieser
Rasenmäher kann den Bediener und andere schwer verletzen; die Warnhinweise und
Sicherheitsvorschriften müssen unbedingt beachtet werden, damit eine angemessene Sicherheit
und Leistung beim Gebrauch dieses Rasenmähers gewährleistet werden kann. Der Bediener ist
dafür verantwortlich, die in dieser Betriebsanleitung und am Rasenmäher gegebenen Warn- und
Sicherheitshinweise zu beachten. Den Rasenmäher nur dann verwenden, wenn der vom Hersteller
bereitgestellte Grasauffangbehälter oder die Schutzvorrichtungen korrekt angebracht sind.

2. Vor der Verwendung muß das Kabel auf
Beschädigungen überprüft werden. Bei Anzeichen
einer Beschädigung oder Alterung muß es
ausgewechselt werden.
3. Den Rasenmäher nicht verwenden, wenn die
elektrischen Kabel beschädigt oder abgenutzt sind.
4. Die Verbindung zur Stromversorgung sofort
unterbrechen, wenn das Kabel Schnitte aufweist oder
die Isolierung beschädigt ist. Das Kabel nicht berühren,
bis die Stromversorgung unterbrochen ist. Ein Kabel,
das Schnitte oder Beschädigungen aufweist, darf nicht
repariert werden; es muß mit einem neuen Kabel
ausgewechselt werden.
Achtung
Die Betriebsanleitung muß sorgfältig
durchgelesen werden, um sicherstellen zu
können, daß alle Steuerelemente und
deren Funktion verstanden werden.
5. Ihr Verlängerungskabel darf im betrieb nicht
gewickelt sein, gewickelte Kabel können sich
überhitzen und das Leistungsvermögen Ihres
Rasenmähers reduzieren.
6. Das Kabel muß vom Rasenmäher ferngehalten
werden; immer vom Stromanschluß weg arbeiten und
auf- und abmähen, nie in Kreisen mähen.
7. Das Kabel nicht um scharfkantige Objekte ziehen.
8. Die Maschine niemals am Kabel tragen.
9. Die Kabel mit den gelieferten Kabelbändern an den
Griffen befestigen. Dabei muß sichergestellt werden,
daß die Kabel nicht zwischen den oberen und
unteren Griffen eingeklemmt werden.
Der Rasenmäher muß während des Mähens
immer auf dem Boden bleiben. Durch
Kippen oder Anheben des Rasenmähers
können Steine fortgeschleudert werden.
Es dürfen sich keine Personen in der Nähe
befinden. Es darf nicht gemäht werden, wenn
sich Personen, insbesondere Kinder, oder
Haustiere im Mähbereich befinden.
Den Rasenmäher ausschalten! Den Stecker
aus der Steckdose ziehen, bevor der
Rasenmäher nachgestellt oder gereinigt wird,
oder wenn sich das Kabel verwickelt hat oder
beschädigt ist. Das Kabel darf nicht mit dem
Messer in Berührung kommen.
10. Immer zuerst die Stromversorgung unterbrechen,
bevor ein Stecker, Kabelverbinder oder ein
Verlängerungskabel entfernt wird.
11. Den Rasenmäher ausschalten, den Stecker aus der
Steckdose ziehen und das elektrische
Nehmen Sie sich davor in acht, daß der
Rasenmäher nicht in Ihre Zehen oder
Hände schneiden kann. Hände oder Füße
dürfen sich nicht in der Nähe des
Versorgungskabel auf Beschädigungen oder
Alterungsanzeichen überprüfen, bevor das Kabel zur
Lagerung aufgewickelt wird. Ein beschädigtes Kabel
darf nicht repariert werden; es muß mit einem neuen
Kabel ausgewechselt werden.

auf keinen Fall, den Rasenmäher benutzen. Örtliche
Vorschriften enthalten ggf. Altersbeschränkungen.
2. Den Rasenmäher in der in dieser Betriebsanleitung
beschriebenen Art und Weise und nur für die
vorgesehenen Funktionen verwenden.
3. Den Rasenmäher nie verwenden, wenn Sie müde
oder krank sind oder unter dem Einfluß von Alkohol,
Drogen oder Arzneimitteln stehen.
4. Der Bediener oder Benutzer ist für Unfälle anderer
Personen, und für die Gefahr, der sie oder deren
Eigentum ausgesetzt werden, verantwortlich.
Angaben zur Sicherheit bei der Verwendung

1. Es wird die Verwendung einer Fehlerstrom-
Schutzvorrichtung mit einer Auslösung bei nicht
mehr als 30mA empfohlen. Selbst mit einer solchen
Schutzvorrichtung kann keine 100-prozentige
Sicherheit garantiert werden. Deshalb müssen
jederzeit die entsprechenden Sicherheitsvorschriften
beachtet werden. Die Fehlerstrom-Schutzvorrichtung
bei jeder Verwendung überprüfen.

1. Netz- und Verlängerungskabel sind von Ihrem

2. Es dürfen nur Verlängerungskabel, die speziell zur
Verwendung im Freien vorgesehen sind, verwendet
werden.
Vorbereitung
1. Bei Arbeiten mit Ihrem Gerät müssen Sie immer
feste Schuhe und lange Hosen tragen.
2. Sicherstellen, daß keine Stecken, Steine, Knochen, Draht
oder Schutt auf dem Rasen liegen; sie könnten durch das
Messer fortgeschleudert werden.
3. Vor der Verwendung und nach Erhalt eines kräftigen
Stoßes muss die Maschine auf Anzeichen eines
Verschleisses oder einer Beschädigung überprüft
und bei Bedarf die entsprechenden
Reparaturarbeiten ausgeführt werden.
4. Abgenutzte oder beschädigte Messer müssen zusammen
mit ihren Befestigungen als ganze Sätze ausgewechselt
werden, um das Gleichgewicht beizubehalten.

Verwendung
1. Den Rasenmäher nur bei Tageslicht oder guter
künstlicher Beleuchtung verwenden.
2. Rasenmäher sollten, wenn möglich, nicht in nassem
Gras verwendet werden.
3. In nassem Gras ist Vorsicht geboten, da Sie leicht
Ihren Halt verlieren können.
4. An Hängen muß sichergestellt werden, daß Sie einen
sicheren Halt haben und rutschfeste Schuhe tragen.
5. Hänge nie von oben nach unten, sondern immer
quer zum Hang mähen.
6. Seien Sie besonders vorsichtig, wenn Sie die Richtung
am Hang ändern. Beim Mähen nur gehen, niemals laufen
